Underwater

My other half was really excited about seeing this movie. I wasn’t sure at first when the trailer started. Then I thought I saw aliens. Were those aliens?? We were looking forward to it coming out.. and then didn’t rush out to see it. Instead we chose 1917, which we were late to the game seeing that one. We have kids so we’re usually late to the game anyway.

This movie starts off right away. They don’t waste any time cooking up the drama. The drama never stops. Basically you pick up right away that — they’re fucked. The chance of getting out of the fuckery is 50/50 and then as they go on and on they realize that that chance is getting very slim. I don’t know if you’re like us but we start choosing who the first to die is going to be, who will die in general, and who will be the final girl.. or boy. If you’re like me you may even choose a favorite, is that a girl thing? Yet, rooting for someone, anyone, the whole time.

I liked all the team work. The characters/actors all really worked together. The ending was predictable. If you saw it, did you guess it? I’m still wondering — were those aliens?? Sea creatures?? Will there be a number 2?? Anyway, I liked it.

The Grudge

What an absolute pile. I’m not really sure what I was expecting from this. Just, oh, another horror movie. Oh, another Grudge movie. There’s only two scenes that I can think of on why this was slapped with an R-rating. The jump scares were so predictable — you know when they cut the suspenseful music and it’s nothing but silence — you know it’s coming. That’s the sad part of the R-rating — my toddler would have really loved those parts. The jumping back-and-forth from story to story story was pretty annoying. She’s a cop, she goes into the bad house. Then the other families that were also linked up to that house are wandering around through the whole movie making Grudge noises.

There were a few good parts — I liked when John Cho’s character goes after his wife. I liked when Andrea Riseborough’s character plays back the tape and sees someone coming out of the bathroom. Lin Shaye’s kitchen scene. Those were fun little thrills.

The ending, wow, saw that coming. It was all just a mess. Kind of like my sloppy writing right now. If you liked it.. let me know!

For their 100th anniversary Knott’s Berry Farm are celebrating by releasing 100 pins. Every Friday they’ll announce the pin and that Saturday that pin will be available to purchase.

Pin #1 is the 100th Anniversary 2020. A big boysenberry with a picture of the berry stand. The pin is big and grand!

The first pin is $9.99. All other pins will be $9.99 or $5 with any purchase. Pins will be available at; The General Store (located in Ghost Town), Cordy’s Corner (located across from Bear-y Tales — coming soon), Gold Trails Hotel and Mercantile (across from the entrance of Ghost Rider), Virginia’s Gift Shop (located at the California Market Place), and Casa California.

I purchased Pin #1 at The General Store. 2 weeks after its release there were about a dozen left at The General Store and a dozen left at Cordy’s Corner. I didn’t see any at Gold Trails Hotel and Mercantile or at Virginia’s Gift Shop but both locations were too busy to ask.

Sad news for anyone looking for Pin #2 — they are sold out! Pin #3 is currently on sale — during a holiday weekend — so happy hunting to all out there doing their collecting 🙂

1917

Wow! What a movie! I’m sure most everyone that has seen this film probably thinks the same thing. If you didn’t like it — let me know. The long shots were great. So many men lined up in character. I think I held my breath through the whole movie. I didn’t feel like terror was going to strike at any moment. But just the worry of him having to get from point A to point B quickly. There’s a lot to say about this film.. but I’ll leave it at that. Just a fantastic film.

Build-A-Bear Coming To California Market Place at Knott’s Berry Farm

So exciting to hear the news about Build-A-Bear coming to Knott’s Berry Farm. Even more exciting was catching a glimpse of it during our visit to Knott’s. Of course I was looking in the windows and caught a glimpse of the inside coming together nicely and looking lovely.

Located in the California Market Place right outside of the Knott’s exit. Happy to see this building being occupied. It’s a cute stand-alone building and every single visit I’ve always been bummed to see it empty.

Knott’s has announced that they’ll honor the Old West with a line of cowboy, cowgirl, and train conductor bears. As well as other products celebrating other Knott’s events.

We already know that Build-A-Bear has sold a Peanuts line. You can still get the Flying Ace outfit, winter outfit, Snoopy Christmas and Valentine’s shirts for your bears. You can also get the Peanuts theme to put in your bear. Or a Woodstock plush. All are currently on sale at buildabear.com

So will we be seeing more Peanuts? Peanuts bears? Peanuts accessories? Peanuts characters? Peanuts celebration shirt? Bear-y Tales is coming.. will we see a line for that? Scary Farm bear? Can’t wait to find out!

What we do know is that opening day is Tuesday January 28th and there will be a special t-shirt!

Yes, you will receive discounts with your pass. Yes, gift cards will be accepted at this location.

A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood

WOW!! What a movie! If you love Mister Rogers, you gotta love this. If you love Tom Hanks, you gotta love this.

Inspired by a 1998 article published in Esquire magazine about Mister Rogers being a hero. It follows the journalists journey with his encounter with Mister Rogers and everything going on with this fellas life at the time.

It starts off with the classic theme and intro with Tom Hanks singing the song. Turn on the waterworks for me! I cried through this movie from start-to-finish. Just the gentleness of the story of Mister Rogers and his interaction with people is so lovely. The daily life of this journalist and things he was going through with his family and how Mister Rogers put himself in their life was lovely. Daniel Striped Tiger makes and appearance which is also lovely.

If you love all things Mister Rogers, like I do, then you’ll love this movie.

Do you think Tom Hanks did a good job portraying Mister Rogers?

Knives Out

My other half really didn’t want to see this movie — at all. Even this huge cast couldn’t pull him in. I was excited from the trailer, he wasn’t. It was the huge cast that pulled me.. especially Christoper Plummer, Michael Shannon, and Toni Collette. Who doesn’t like a good whodunit?

I’d just like to know, did you enjoy it? Were you able to figure out whodunit? Were you surprised at who it was? What other whodunit movies do you like?

Black Christmas

I took my 9-year-old step-daughter to see this. She’s all about the girl power and I figured this would be filled with it! And it is! Of course I had her watch the original before we went. This is similar to the original as in — they’re in a sorority. This one has a totally different story line.

Spoiler; there are breaking necks. I don’t do breaking necks. I didn’t realize that PG-13 were big in the breaking necks department. I was a little uneasy throughout the film.

I like Imogen Poots from 28 Weeks Later, Green Room, Fright Night (remake), That Awkward Moment, Frank & Lola. So I went into this already liking this because of her.

Definitely worth checking out.
